   The new Advanced Materials Beamline for Energy Research (AMBER) beamline will enhance, deepen, and broaden
the scientific and technological researches at the ALS for sustainable energy applications. The potential impacts and
technical capabilities of AMBER beamline are based on various recent scientific achievements and instrumentation
developments of soft x-ray spectroscopy. This workshop will present recent advances in the vast field of energy
sciences, and the significance of employing soft x-ray spectroscopy for targeting grand energy challenges. The focus
is to accumulate and demonstrate high impacts on studying energy materials through soft x-ray spectroscopy, and to
establish and explore future development plan of AMBER beamline to better serve energy sciences.
   This workshop targets the scientists, postdocs and graduate students who work in the broad fields of sustainable
energy materials.
